How does Nateglinide work?

Nateglinide works by acting on the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. These cells are called beta cells. This medication causes the beta cells to produce more insulin. Insulin is a natural substance that allows the body to properly use sugar from the diet.

Why use Nateglinide?

Nateglinide is an antidiabetic medicine. This stimulates the body to produce more insulin. This is a prescription approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Nateglinide comes as a tablet for oral use. Each tablet contains Nateglinide as an active ingredient. This is available in the strengths of 60 mg and 120 mg.

How to use Nateglinide?

The recommended dosage is based on your medical condition and response. Your doctor may start you at a low dose and slowly increase your dose. It is to lessen your risk of side effects. Follow the instructions of your doctor carefully. Do not take more or less of this medication.

Nateglinide is usually taken 3 times a day 1 to 30 minutes before each main meal. Take this medication not earlier than 30 minutes before meals. Do not take a dose of drug if you are skipping that meal. Remember to take it at the same time each day. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it gets worse.
